Gloria Diaz

La Union is making an impression in the world of pageants and it all started with the victory of Miss Universe 1969, Gloria Diaz who traced her heritage from the province thru her father’s Diaz clan of Aringay.
In 1969, Aringay was in frenzy thru her victory in Miami, Florida when she was crowned Miss Universe of 1969 and the whole nation rejoiced that in every newspaper and magazine publication was full of her thriump when she conquered the universe.
Aringay was full of gratitude when she arrived in the Philippines since after her courtesy calls in Manila, she then travelled to La Union, the home province of her father Jaime “Jimmy” Diaz to pay homage to her heritage. After a courtesy call to the Provincial Governor, there was a victory caravan in her father’s hometown. Mayor Moises Dulay was in charge of giving her the recognition and from her victory the people of Aringay and even the province of La Union, there is always a hope that someday another Ilocana will achieve what Gloria Diaz had.
After her journey in the world of pageants, Gloria Diaz is now a legend in the entertainemnt industry with awards that acknowledged her acting prowess.

Currently she is seen in Kung Ako’y Iiwan mo in ABS-CBN 2.
Gloria Diaz will remaine as La Union’s Pride.
